With the official recruiting season open for business Friday, Canisius locked up its women's head basketball coach this week. Canisius and head coach Terry Zeh agreed to a contract extension which will keep him in charge of the Golden Griffins' program through the 2010-11 season. He is the third Big 4 coach to get an extension this offseason. Bill Agronin at Niagara and …

There will be a familiar visitor to the Koessler Center next season when former Clemson and Auburn coach Cliff Ellis comes to town as the new coach at Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers will be playing Canisius in the return game from last year's BracketBusters contest in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Ellis replaces former North Carolina player Buzz Peterson, who left Coastal to wor…

After watching the NBA draft, I shake my head even more over what I saw April 2 in the Georgia Dome between Florida and Ohio State -- a national championship game that featured five of the first 10 picks and eight players overall. Amazing. It might be a long time before we see that again. Which player from that game will thrive the most? Greg Oden in Portland? How about C…

Huge at 6-9, 270 but has no offense to speak of. But he will bang and has six fouls to give, so there might be a place for him. --- Rodney McKissic

This first thing that comes to mind when I think about Strawberry is the defensive job he did against Stephen Curry in the second half of Maryland's victory over Davidson in the NCAA Tournament. If he's going to make it in the NBA, it's going to be as a lock-down defender. --- Rodney McKissic

His style of play is a lot like Antawn Jamison. He scores around the basket, hustles, and crashes the boards. But he's at least two years away from getting a chance in the NBA. --- Rodney McKissic

I don't think he's an NBA player. At least not yet. He has good size for a point guard so a couple of seasons overseas or in the minors could be what he needs. ---Rodney McKissic

I had this guy rated ahead of Jared Jordan and Taurean Green at point guard and picked in the low end of the first round. Can't figure out why Sessions was drafted so low other than the fact that his jump shot is just OK. But how can anyone pass on a point guard who sets up his teammates and makes everyone better? --- Rodney McKissic

Hill can score in the low post but his defense needs some work. His D is the reason why he was drafted so low. ---Rodney McKissic

An unbelievable shooter who loves to pull up but can also get to the rack quickly. Problem is he doesn't play a lick of defense. --- Rodney McKissic

Nichols does most of his work from long range and needs to develop an in-between game. The good news for WNY fans is the departure of Nichols (Syracuse) frees up more playing time for Paul Harris. --- Rodney McKissic

Green is the sixth Florida Gator taken in this draft. I understand why he came out because it would have been a difficult senior year for him playing with an new team, but he could have shown scouts that he was capable of leading a young team. --- Rodney McKissic

Probably should have stayed in school another year to tighten up his playmaking skills. It's going to be hard for Curry to make this roster. --- Rodney McKissic

If you like Brent Barry, you'll love Seibutis! He's quick with good size who loves to slash to the basket. He can play either guard spot. --- Rodney McKissic

I thought he would go a little bit higher but he's about as quick as HSBC Arena. Still, he's all of 7-foot and 280 pounds and he'll rebound and defend. --- Rodney McKissic
