The Buffalo NewsRoom at Canalside is a public space located in the courtyard right across from The Buffalo News building on Washington Street. In partnership with Canalside, the Buffalo NewsRoom offers a tranquil spot for downtown professionals, students, families and visitors to enjoy the space for a break in the day, to read a book or newspaper, engage in meetings and conversations, and partake in various daily programming.
The space will be functional as a NewsRoom from Monday through Friday, dawn to dusk. Books from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library and publications from The Buffalo News will be available in the NewsRoom for visitors to read and enjoy.
REFRESH MONDAYS! - Kick start your week with a good dose of health and wellness. Each Monday, visit the Buffalo NewsRoom at Canalside to learn healthy living tips from the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo and qualified guest speakers on topics of health, fitness, and food. This series is sponsored by REFRESH, the health & wellness section of The Buffalo News. Time: Mondays, 11 AM - 1 PM with guest speakers at 12:30 PM.
DOWNLOADS & DEVICES WITH THE BUFFALO & ERIE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES - Each Tuesday, see how to download eBooks, music and video for free on your electronic device (cell phone, iPad, etc) with a Library card. Library cards will be free and available to Erie County residents and employees. Time: Tuesdays, 11 AM - 1 PM.
NEWSROOM LECTURE SERIES - Enjoy a mid-week lecture series each Wednesday at the Newsroom. Hear discussions on the latest development plans, real estate transactions, historic preservation, parkland improvements, neighborhood news and more. Time: Wednesdays from 11 AM - 1 PM with guest speakers at 12 PM.
[BN] CHESS - Michael A. McDuffie of the Archangel 8 Chess Academy, a chess coach and tournament director with the United States Chess Federation, will offer free chess at the Newsroom every Thursday. Challenge a friend to a lunchtime chess match and learn expert tips from McDuffie. Time: Thursdays, 11 AM - 1 PM.
