It was a light practice that lasted 30 minutes in KeyBank Center Wednesday morning. Jack Eichel and Evander Kane didn't even skate, earning a maintenance day after Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals. Overall, the guys were tired. And that's a good thing. That's how bodies are supposed to feel after a win — a little bit spent. It's another step in the ri…

Take a look at Austin Osmanski's career stats, and the first thing you notice is the jump in offensive numbers. The defenseman has nine points in 18 games this season. That's one better than he had through all 55 games he played last season in the Ontario Hockey League. But Osmanski is quick to point out that while the offensive numbers are nice, they're a product of…

Running

It was about two weeks before the New York City Marathon and Allie Kieffer broke down. She had been dealing with tendinitis in her right leg. Running was painful. Not running was depressing. They came away with a point in an Atlantic Hockey matchup. That’s the good news. But the Niagara Purple Eagles were poised for much more than a 3-3 tie with the Bentley Falcons in Dwyer Arena Friday night. It's the course that makes the race. And the weather. But mostly the course. The final mile of the 10-mile journey through Lockport climbs the hill on Market Street, a steep end to a long race that probably included snow and wind. And that snow and wind probably made the stretch on Harrington Road particularly brutal. And lonely. And causing runners to question some of …
