Wheatfield man, rejected by sex offender counselors, goes to prison in child porn case

A Wheatfield man, rejected for further treatment by two psychologists who counsel sex offenders, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison Wednesday for violating probation on child pornography charges.

Brent J. Manz is "arrogant, condescending and sarcastic," Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III said.

"I'm the kind of personality that is somewhat confrontational," said Manz, 34, of Homeyer Road.

In January 2014, Manz admitted to attempted promoting a sexual performance by a child, attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor, and obstructing governmental administration. In 2012, he downloaded child porn and held online chats with an undercover Ulster County sheriff’s deputy posing as a 14-year-old girl.

In March 2013, Manz physically tried to prevent Niagara Falls police who had a search warrant from seizing his computer.
