Frontier Central School Board names new high school principal

A new principal will start working at Frontier Central High School starting in June.

Daniel A. Charland, the assistant principal at Kenmore West High School, will join the Frontier district and provide some stability to the principal's office after the year saw the appointment of three acting or interim principals.

Jeffrey Sortisio, who had been principal for nine years, was named superintendent of the Fredonia School District last July. A series of interim principals were named, including James Newton, who will remain until the end of the school year for a brief transition.

Charland was the assistant principal for about seven years and had been principal of Franklin Middle School in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District, said Frontier Superintendent Richard Hughes. A graduate of SUNY Fredonia, Charland also was a music teacher in the Holland Central School District.
