A 19-year-old Buffalo man faces a second-degree murder charge for a March 22 fatal shooting, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Jonathen Malone Jr. was arraigned Monday on an indictment charging him with killing Dimitrius Morgan, 26, on East Delavan Avenue near Courtland Avenue in Buffalo last month.
Malone pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail by State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller, the DA's office said in a news release.
Malone has been in police custody since he was arrested March 27 after a bank robbery in South Buffalo. In that case, he was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property for allegedly possessing some of the stolen cash taken from the bank.
The district attorney's office commended the work of Buffalo Police homicide investigators, including Detective Sgt. James Dunham, as well as detectives Scott Malec, Christopher Sterlace and Mark White.
