Give the drummer some: Bill Bruford comes to UB

You might know him as the drummer who played on dozens of recordings considered to be classics of their era – albums from Yes, King Crimson, Gong, U.K., to say nothing of his own efforts as leader of the bands Bruford and Earthworks – but these days, it's Dr. Bruford to you, pal. Bruford recently earned his PhD in Musicology from the University of Surrey, and a matter of months later, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes.

Bruford recently published his second book, "Uncharted: Creativity and the Expert Drummer," and he will appear as a guest lecturer on the University at Buffalo's North Campus, in a program that will feature a Q&A session and a curated performance of Bruford's music from over the years, by the Genkin Philharmonic and UB Concert Band under the direction of Professor Jon Nelson.

An Evening with Bill Bruford: 7:30 p.m. April 14 in Slee Hall and 4 p.m. April 16 in Baird Hall, UB North Campus. Free.
