Driver flees after Jeep crashes into City Honors School, causing 'significant damage'

A driver fled the scene after a black Jeep struck the stone foundation of City Honors School at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a Buffalo police spokesman said.

The vehicle traveled through the school's parking lot and stuck the foundation at a window well on the south side of the building. A police report said it caused significant damage, and the Jeep also had extensive front-end damage.

Buffalo police said the driver fled the scene on foot and they are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

William A. Kresse, Ph.D., principal of the school, said the vehicle knocked out a window, which he said "should be replaced shortly."

Students are on spring recess now, with classes resuming April 9.
