West Seneca School Board to weigh superintendent appointment

West Seneca Central School Board members will meet in executive session Thursday evening to review reaction from an advisory committee on the choice of Matthew J. Bystrak to lead the district.

West Seneca School Board says interim Superintendent Matthew Bystrak is the best choice to permanently head the district.

Board President Carol A. Jarczyk said the board does not expect to take any action during the meeting.

The advisory committee met Wednesday. It was to consider the top candidates for superintendent and give their reviews to board members. But in an open letter to the community signed by all seven members last month, the board said it had determined that Bystrak was the best choice.

Despite that, Jarczyk said the advisory committee's opinion of Bystrak will be heavily weighed by board members.

Bystrak was named interim superintendent in July.
