Broadway Market police station construction begins in May

Construction of a $500,000 Buffalo Police Department substation in the Broadway Market is slated to begin by the end of May and be completed by fall, Mayor Byron W. Brown said Thursday.

Meanwhile, a Buffalo Police Mobile Command Bus will serve as a temporary substation outside of the market during the Easter holiday season.

Brown made the announcements at the Broadway Market and invited city residents and visitors to join him the weekend of March 10-11 for a "Sneak Peek Weekend" in advance of the market's busy Easter season.

New vendors will showcase their specialty items. There also will be live music and treats to sample.

Brown originally announced plans last May to install a permanent police substation at the market.
