Allentown murder suspect arraigned on separate weapons charge

A man accused of killing an acquaintance outside an Allentown bar in November was arraigned in Erie County Court on an unrelated weapons charge Thursday.

Jeremy Wright allegedly confronted employees at the Allen Street Bar and Grill and had a knife with him. That happened one month before the Nov. 3 fatal shooting of Saleem Merukeb.

Wright, 30, was picked up Oct. 7 and charged with menacing and a drug offense. He made bail by November.

Wright was arrested again a week after Merukeb's shooting outside Frizzy's Bar & Grill on Allen Street and is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree in that case.

Wright now also is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for allegedly having a ballistics knife with a 4-inch blade on him during the October incident.
