Deer Search sets seminar

Deer Search of WNY will be holding a “blood tracking seminar” at the West Falls Conservation Society, 55 Bridge St., West Falls on Feb. 24 starting at 2 p.m. This seminar is open to the public and is free of charge. For more information, visit www.deersearchwny.org.

According to Gary Huber with Deer Search, they will be going in-depth into following a blood trail with a 2-hour power point presentation that includes both slides and video. “We are the agency of last resort,” insist Huber. “We want hunters to learn proper tracking on their own. However, sometimes hunters need a little bit of help.” In Region 9 last fall, the 16 volunteers fielded 170 calls, recovered 51 deer and two bears. They also traveled 6,760 miles to lend a helping hand.

If you would like to be a part of Deer Search, this is a great opportunity to see what it’s all about. You will learn about proper hunting techniques and when it’s too soon to push a deer after your shot.
