Counterfeit cash shows up at Elmwood store, restaurant

Buffalo police were called to two Elmwood Avenue businesses on Tuesday for reports of customers paying with counterfeit bills.

A cashier at the 7-Eleven store at 304 Elmwood told police a man tried to buy items with two fake $20 bills. The cashier noticed the bills were not real and grabbed them, according to a Buffalo police report. The man ran out of the store, police were told.

In another case, a man paid for food around 9 p.m. Tuesday at Vasilis Express, 1066 Elmwood, with four fake $5 bills, an employee told police.
