Impostor steals wallet from Lewiston woman's apartment

A woman posing as an employee of an Upper Mountain Road apartment complex was able to steal a wallet belonging to one of the tenants of the Lewiston complex, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.

The victim told police that the woman came to her residence on Jan. 26 and, after being allowed inside, stole the victim's wallet that contained credit cards, gift cards and $200 in cash.

The victim told police she had no reason to suspect that the woman was not what she was claiming to be. No other residents of the complex were able to furnish any helpful information concerning the theft, police said.
