Man arrested for blocking traffic on busy roadway

Niagara Falls police arrested a city man early Sunday, saying he blocked traffic on a busy section of Niagara Falls Boulevard by walking down the middle of the road while intoxicated.

Timothy L. Smith, 28, of Independence Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said he was heavily intoxicated and walking down the middle of the 3900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard just before 1 a.m. After being told to get out of the roadway, he refused and became belligerent, according to police reports.

Smith reportedly told police that he was just "walking home, having a good time" and told police to leave him alone as he attempted to go on his way in the middle of the roadway.
