Homeroom Announcements: Friday's big games & more

What to watch for Friday

1. Boys basketball - Canisius at Bishop Timon-St. Jude, 6:30 p.m.

No. 2 large school Canisius (19-2, 9-1) visits No. 4 Bishop Timon-St. Jude (16-3, 7-2) in Friday's top attraction. The Crusaders moved into first place of the Monsignor Martin Class A division with its dominating 84-60 win over No. 1 Park (15-5, 8-2) Tuesday. The Tigers split with Park this season and lost at Canisius on Jan. 3, 72-59.

2. Girls basketball - Mount St. Mary at Sacred Heart, 6:30 p.m.

No. 3 large school Sacred Heart (15-6) hosts No. 7 Mount St. Mary (18-3) in the first matchup between the two teams this season. The Sharks have won nine of their last 10, with the lone loss coming at No. 2 Williamsville South last Wednesday. The Thunder have won five straight since a loss to Rochester power Our Lady of Mercy.

3. Boys hockey - West Seneca East vs. West Seneca West, 5:30 p.m.

Crosstown rivals West Seneca East (12-2) and West Seneca West (8-4-1-1) face off at West Seneca Ice Rink this evening. The defending-champ Trojans are on a five-game winning streak since back-to-back losses to West Seneca West and Grand Island. The Indians sit in third behind Grand Island, which split meetings this season.

4. Track & field - Section VI Team Championships, 5 p.m.

The best of Section VI compete at Houghton College for the right to be called sectional team champions.

- Boys swimming: First day of Section VI Class Championships at Maryvale
