Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly has had his gallbladder removed, his daughter Erin Kelly-Bean wrote on social media Friday night.
Erin noted that her mother, Jill, has been in the hospital since Wednesday battling pneumonia and "within 24 hours my dad was in the room next to her after having to get his gallbladder removed." Erin then asked for prayers for her family.
It is unclear what precipitated Jim Kelly needing to have his gallbladder removed. Kelly has battled head and neck cancer and was at the Super Bowl last week to help raise awareness and money for cancer patient organizations.
Here is Erin's post from her Instagram account:
These two... ♥️ In sickness and in health... Truthfully I’m not sure where to even begin... My mom has been in the hospital since Wednesday battling horrible pneumonia. And within 24 hours my dad was in the room next to her after having to get his gallbladder removed. Although I don’t understand... I’m choosing to trust God and cling to Him... the Healer!!!! Our family would love for you to surround us in prayer!!! Thank you! #KellyTough
Jim Kelly posted on Instagram Saturday morning that "Jill still needs all our prayers" and noted that he was heading to spend some time at the annual Hunter's Day of Hope and Prayer for Children at the Bills' field house.
Mommy has takin over the Kelly Tough room at ECMC. I ended up in the room next to her "Gallbladder surgery. " I don't get it but have to continue praying as Jill still needs all our prayers. I'm out and heading to Hunters Day of Hope for children for a few minutes today to visit with some kids that have it alot worse then we do. GOD bless our day. 👍🙏🙏🙏
