Principal injured during fight; student arrested

A student at Buffalo United Charter School was arrested Wednesday morning after the school's principal was injured during a fight between students, according to a Buffalo police report.

The 14-year-old student was accused of pushing Principal Tammy Messmer during a fight with another student in a hallway at the school on Manhattan Avenue, according to the report. The student was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Messmer suffered pain and swelling to the left side of her body and was going to be treated at an urgent care facility, the report said.
