Batavia man charged with DWI, drug possession after Pembroke crash

A Batavia man faces drug and drunk-driving charges following a one-car crash Wednesday on Indian Falls Road in the Town of Pembroke, authorities said.

Genesee County Sheriff's deputies charged Paul D. Fields Jr., 48, with driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level at or above .08, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance and making an unsafe lane change, the Sheriff's Office said.

Fields was driving at an unreasonable speed for the road conditions and crashed into a tree, the Sheriff's Office said. Fields was driving with a revoked license and in possession of an unspecified controlled substance, the Sheriff's Office said.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return March 27 to Pembroke Town Court.
