Complaints about Tops on Jefferson are focus of community meeting

Tops Markets officials will address community concerns about the company's Jefferson Avenue store during a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.

The meeting, sponsored by We Are Women Warriors, will address concerns about the quality of the fresh fruits and vegetables as well as the quality of the service, said former Erie County Legislator Betty Jean Grant, founder of the organization.

The store at 1275 Jefferson opened in 2003, filling a void for residents who had to travel out of the neighborhood to find a supermarket. But Grant said residents have complained about the quality of the food as well as how they are sometimes treated.
