Local flippers get HGTV pilot, open Eastern Hills Mall space

Chris and Lorissa Naugle, married house flippers who own FlipOut Academy at Eastern Hills Mall, have landed a series on HGTV that will premiere this month.

The pilot show features the couple, along with local artist Blair Rusin of Art By Blair, taking risks by rehabbing Buffalo-area properties for profit. "Risky Builders" will air Feb. 18 featuring the flip of a local home on Tonawanda Creek Road.

Their new space at Eastern Hills Mall serves as a headquarters for the real estate education program the couple established in 2014. The Naugles and a group of coaches teach students the process of flipping houses, then work with them as the students flip houses themselves. The giant 7,000-square-foot space, next to the WBBZ-TV studio, contains a 100-person theater-style event area for real estate workshops, design seminars and training.

The Naugles rehab and re-sell homes in the Buffalo market under the LC Strategic Realty brand.

The couple formerly owned Phatman Boardshop, a retailer of skateboards, snowboards and accessories on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda.
