Demolition makes way for Chick-fil-A

That was quick.

The former Famous Dave's restaurant was demolished over the weekend to make way for a new Chick-fil-A restaurant destined for the spot this fall.

The Georgia-based fast-food chicken chain will be located at 1753 Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga near the Walden Galleria. The company is planning to open this fall.

It will the be the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Western New York.

Customers have long awaited the restaurant, petitioning the company to open in Western New York with emails and Facebook pages. Fans have posted false opening announcements as April Fools' jokes. Someone erected a fake sign in Wheatfield saying the spot would soon be home to a Chick-fil-A. Some fans even drive as far as Erie, Pa., to get their Chick-fil-A fix.
