A man and woman fled from the Portage Road Tops supermarket Thursday afternoon after stealing their evening's dinner, including drinks and dessert.
Niagara Falls Police said that a store manager followed the pair after noticing their suspicious behavior shortly after 3 p.m. He said they took several plastic bags from the produce department and went around the store, filling the bags with three submarine sandwiches, some fried chicken, a wedge of cheese, a half-liter of Pepsi, a 32-ounce jar of orange juice and a bag of Doritos chips. They paid only for one sandwich and the chips before fleeing the store.
Investigators may not have a difficult time identifying the suspects as the female part of the duo used a New York State benefits card to pay for the purchase. Police are in the process of tracking down the holder of the card.
