State Sen. Patrick Gallivan, an Elma Republican, has endorsed John DeFrancisco, a Syracuse-area GOP state senator, for governor.
"I have enjoyed a close working relationship with Sen. DeFrancisco for nearly eight years. In the Senate, I have witnessed his strong work ethic, professionalism and dedication and I am confident that he will make an outstanding governor," Gallivan said in a statement released Friday.
Gallivan cited DeFrancisco's work as deputy majority leader and chairman of both the Senate Judiciary Committee and the
Senate Finance Committee as examples of how DeFrancisco "has demonstrated his ability to bring people together to serve the residents of New York State."
DeFrancisco, who has been in the Senate since 1993, joins Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, who represents the Finger Lakes region, and Joel Giambra, former Erie County Executive, as candidates for the GOP nomination.
