$1,500 in stereo equipment reported stolen from impounded Jeep

A Crowley Avenue man whose Jeep Grand Cherokee was impounded for nine days told Buffalo Police Friday that someone stole more than $1,500 in stereo equipment from it, according to police reports.

The owner of the Jeep said when he got his vehicle back this week, door speakers were missing along with three amplifiers, a sub-woofer, speaker box and other audio accessories.

He suspects it happened when the Jeep was towed to another lot in LeRoy by an independent towing company.

The man also told police he never signed a release allowing the towing company to move his vehicle from the city impound.

Northwest District police are investigating the report.
