UB men home for TV game vs. Western Michigan

The University at Buffalo men's basketball team plays host to Western Michigan at 7 p.m. Friday at for a Mid-American Conference game to be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Records: UB 16-6, 8-1 in MAC, in first place. WMU 13-9, 5-4 in MAC, tied for fourth overall. UB lost Tuesday at Kent State.

UB Ranks: The Bulls are No. 31 in the latest RPI index and No. 78 in the Pomeroy ranking (widely viewed as a more accurate).

WMU Ranks: The Broncos are No. 168 in the RPI and No. 173 in the Pomeroy.

Top Broncos: Senior guard James Wilder ranks third in the MAC in scoring (18.5 ppg), third in assists (4.3) and third in steals (2.1).

Top Bulls: CJ Massinburg is fourth in the MAC in scoring (17.8) and sixth in rebounds (7.6). Nick Perkins is seventh in scoring (16.3). Wes Clark averages 14.2 and Jeremy Harris 13.8.

Key stat: WMU is No. 2 in the MAC in offensive rebounding, grabbing 31 percent of O-boards. The Broncos also make the fewest turnovers in the MAC. UB will have to prevent second-chance points.

Tickets: A crowd of more than 6,000 is expected at Alumni Arena. There were about 600 tickets left Thursday evening.
