Southtowns Walleye elects first female president

Sue Guenther

Sue Guenther of East Aurora made history in late January when she was elected president of the Southtowns Walleye Association of WNY. She is the first female president of the club, the largest walleye association in the country. The club currently boasts over 1,000 members. Guenther takes over the reins from Dave “Woody” Woodworth, who recently stepped down after 14 years of service.

Guenther has been active with the club for more than 20 years, holding several offices along the way. Her most recent position was first vice president. Other officers elected to the SWA leadership were  Jim Skoczylas, first vice president;  Ron Wutz, second vice president; Jack Schultz, recording secretary; Jay Such, membership secretary;  Tom Chiavetta, corresponding secretary; Bob Merrick, treasurer, and Dick Shaefer, assistant treasurer. The Board of Directors election results saw Rusty Ellis, Chris Guenther, Tim Kuczka, Randy Scott and Jim Stechenfinger all taking over duties. For more information go to www.southtownswalleye.org.
