Study: Where Buffalo ranks among best cities for football fans

Buffalo ranked No. 4 among midsize cities and No. 21 overall for America's best cities for football fans among 240 cities that has at least one college or pro football team in the latest survey from WalletHub.com.

Buffalo was No. 26 overall in the previous rankings done early in the football season.

The survey used 21 metrics to rank the cities. Among the findings in several key areas for Buffalo, with No. 1 being the best and No. 122 being the worst:

  • 17th – Performance Level of NFL Team
  • 14th – Average Ticket Price for NFL Game
  • 122nd – Minimum Season Ticket Price for College Football Game
  • 2nd – NFL Stadium Capacity
  • 16th – Number of NFL Championship Wins
  • 21st – NFL Attendance
  • 14th – NFL Fan Engagement

Green Bay, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Boston and New York were the top five overall. Among midsize cities, Green Bay was followed by Glendale, Ariz., Cincinnati, Buffalo and Tallahasee, Fla. Syracuse ranked No. 62 among midsize cities.
