Man robbed while filling tires at Niagara Falls car wash

A Niagara Falls man was beaten and robbed Saturday while filling his tires at a Hyde Park Boulevard car wash, city police reported.

The 38-year-old victim, a Pierce Avenue resident, told police that he went to the business in the 3600 block of Hyde Park Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. to put some air in the tires of his car. While there, he pulled a $100 bill out of his pocket to get change.

Police said that two men confronted him, and one hit him in the cheek while the other took his money. The pair fled on foot eastbound across Hyde Park Boulevard.

Investigators said that they would check video surveillance cameras at the business for possible clues.
