Farm show gets underway Thursday with hay bale toss

How far can you throw a hay bale?

The third annual hay bale throwing contest will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Western New York Farm Show at the Erie County Fairgrounds. Hay bale toss contests for those 12-and-under are scheduled before the adult toss.

While the free farm show features cutting-edge agricultural products and technology, other attractions include a 12-and-under pedal tractor race Saturday, and high school students showing off their skills in the NAPA Auto Parts Mechanics Competition Friday. The “Real World” Mechanics Competition for those 18 to 21 is Saturday.

The farm show will take place inside two heated buildings at the fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Check WNYFarmShow.com for a complete list of events, demonstrations and seminars.
