WAGNER, Leo Stephen

WAGNER - Leo Stephen "Lee"
Passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at age 88, while in hospice care at the Buffalo VA Hospital. Leo was born April 11, 1929, in Buffalo, NY, to Leo J. and Bernice (nee Rafalski) Wagner. In his childhood, the family purchased and ran a small dairy farm during the meager years of the depression. He graduated from Attica High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1956. In April of 1955, he married the former Mary Agnes Kruk in Buffalo, then went on to serve his country as a Dental Officer in the USAF with assignments in Shreveport, LA, Madrid, Spain, and Grand Forks, ND, before medically retiring as a Major in 1965. He then established a successful private dental practice spanning the next 30 years in Depew, NY. Leo was very active in his churches, OLBS and later St. Gregory the Great; he was also an active member of the Depew Lions Club for many years. Leo is survived by 4 children, Ann Leitten (Henry Piotrowski), Rosanne Wagner (Scott George), James Wagner, and Paul Wagner (Linda McDonnell); 7 grandchildren, Eric Leitten (Donna), Sarah Leitten (Nick), Lara, Shannon, Erin, Mary-Cathryn Medwid (Richard) and Alexander George; 6 great-grandchildren, Casia, Garrett, Lorenzo, Zeda, Evelyn, and Ethan Leitten; 1 nephew, Kurt Wagner; and 2 nieces, Nancy Haggerty (Tom) and Victoria Wagner (Sean). He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo J. and Bernice Wagner (later Stumpf); his brother, Francis J. Wagner; and his former wife, Mary A. Wagner. Even after his death, Leo is not done contributing to this physical world, since he had donated his body to his alma mater, the SUNY at Buffalo for teaching and research purposes. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts or donations may be made out to the University of Buffalo Foundation-Anatomical Gift Program and sent to P.O. Box 900, Buffalo, NY 14226-0900, or pay forward with an act of kindness.
