School board to discuss union contract for subs at special meeting

A special meeting of the Buffalo Board of Education has been called for 5 p.m. Monday in the district board room at 801 City Hall.

The board, which is expected to convene in executive session, will take up a few matters, including negotiations with Substitutes United of Buffalo. The union representing substitute teachers has been calling for a new contract.

The board also is expected to discuss negotiations for leasing the building at 75 West Huron St. for a second Emerson High School. The school board in July awarded designated-developer status to McGuire Development Co., Mark Croce and James Jerge, who want to renovate the  vacant C.W. Miller Livery building into the new high school. Both sides have been trying to negotiate a lease agreement.
