What to watch for Friday

1. Boys basketball - St. Francis at Bishop Timon-St. Jude, 4 p.m.

Of the 43 boys games on today's schedule, the top-ranked matchup features No. 3 large school Bishop Timon-St. Jude (12-2, 3-1) hosting No. 7 St. Francis (9-7, 3-2) in Monsignor Martin play. The Tigers are aiming to keep pace with Park and Canisius as one-loss teams in the Class A division. The Red Raiders look to rebound from a 58-54 loss at St. Mary's from Wednesday.

2. Boys basketball - North Tonawanda at Lockport, 6:30 p.m.

No. 8 large school Lockport (11-2, 6-1) goes for the season sweep of No. 9 North Tonawanda (11-2, 5-2). The Lions, winners of 11 of the last 12, won at the Lumberyard back on Dec. 12, 67-55. The Lumberjacks are currently riding a seven-game winning streak.

3. Girls basketball - Lancaster at St. Mary's of Lancaster, 7 p.m.

No. 10 large school Lancaster (10-1) heads across Walden Avenue for a date with honorable mention St. Mary's. The Legends have been off since they avenged their only loss of the season last Saturday with a 43-34 win at Frontier. The Lancers are 5-4 against Section VI teams this season, with one of those wins coming against Frontier.

4. Boys hockey - Grand Island vs. Starpoint, 6 p.m.

Grand Island (8-2-1) takes on Starpoint (4-4-1) at Cornerstone Ice Arena trying to keep pace with West Seneca East atop the Division 2 standings. The Vikings won the first meeting over the Spartans on Jan. 6, 4-1.

Starpoint is having a blast in its first Federation hockey season

5. Track & field - 9th/10th Grade Championships, 5 p.m.

Some of the top underclassmen in Western New York are set to compete at Houghton College this evening.

- Boys basketball: St. Mary's of Lancaster at Cardinal O'Hara, 6:30 p.m.
- Boys basketball: Niagara Catholic at Park, 6:30 p.m.
- Boys basketball: Amherst at Williamsville South, 7:30 p.m.
- Girls basketball: Akron at Wilson, 6 p.m.
- Boys hockey: West Seneca East vs. Williamsville East, 7 p.m. at West Seneca Ice Rink
