Tee it Up for the Troops raises more than $60,000

Sponsors and teams are signing up for this year's Western New York's Tee it Up for the Troops, after last year's inaugural golf tournament raised more than $60,000 for local and national veterans organizations.

"We were able to present three Western New York veterans groups with individual checks of $10,530 and donate $30,000 to the national veterans organizations Fisher House Foundation, Disabled Sports USA and Hope for the Warriors," said one of the organizers, Tom Waring.

Local organizations receiving checks are Buffalo Healthcare for Homeless Veterans, Veterans One-stop Center of WNY and the Western New York Section PGA Foundation.

Sponsors and teams are signing up for this year's event Sept. 10 at Wanakah Country Club.

Tee It Up for the Troops is a not-for-profit organization formed to honor, remember, respect and support current and former members of the armed forces.
