VANCOUVER – Mikhail Grigorenko's long, winding road in the hockey world is taking him to South Korea.
The former Sabres prospect will represent Russia in next month's Olympics, the team announced Thursday. Buffalo selected the center with the 12th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.
After three seasons of bouncing between Buffalo, Rochester and Quebec, Grigorenko went to Colorado as part of the trade for Ryan O'Reilly. He spent two seasons with the Avalanche and joined Russia's Kontinental Hockey League this season.
The Russian team also includes former NHL stars Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk.
