HEALTHY START – The Erie County Health Department will hold the first of this year’s six free rabies vaccination clinics from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the North Buffalo Community Center, 203 Sanders Road, off Colvin Boulevard. Shots will be provided for cats, dogs and ferrets.
Pets should be on a leash or in a carrier. Owners should bring a copy of their animal’s vaccination record. Two more clinics will be held in May and three more in September at times and locations to be announced. Last year the clinics immunized 1,129 cats, 3,335 dogs and 32 ferrets countywide.

SAVE ON INSURANCE – A Driver Safety Class, which provides a 10 percent discount on car insurance, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the office of Metro Roberts Real Estate, 861 Abbott Road. Cost is $35. To reserve a seat, call Donna Jeffers at 868-8266.

DON’T TOSS IT – If it’s broken, you can get it fixed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dare to Repair Cafe in the Reinstein Woods Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive off Como Park Boulevard, Depew.
Volunteers will help you repair, or try to repair, small appliances, lamps, furniture, tools, clothing and even snow blowers. PASS THE SALT – St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3512 Clinton St., West Seneca, will host its monthly community dinner for anyone who needs a meal from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The menu includes a pasta bake, salad, beverages and dessert. All are invited. There is no charge for the dinner. Free-will offerings are welcome.

KINDRED CONCERNS – Female elected officials and women entrepreneurs will meet and greet each other from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Monday in Hyatt Place, 5020 Main St., Snyder, in a program sponsored by the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).
“Women from across the area will have a unique opportunity to share their concerns with local leaders,” says Sherrie Barr Mack, who chairs the NAWBO Public Policy Committee. “In turn, the dozens of powerful women in politics from across Western New York attending the event will share what inspires and motivates them.”
