The opening of the Manhattan-feel newsstand inside the Allen-Medical Campus Metro station is slightly delayed.
Why the Grab and Go Newstands did not open in early January is unclear, but it is slated to be running by mid-February, said Helen Tederous, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority spokeswoman.
The stand will offer newspapers, coffee, sandwiches, cappuccino and protein shakes at a street-level stand within the newly redone station at the base of University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences that opened to students on Jan. 8.
The NFTA awarded the competitive bid contract to Ahmed Adhadhari of Grab and Go, establishing the first retail stand in the Buffalo subway since its opening in 1985. Adhadhari already leases a Grab and Go stand from the NFTA at its downtown bus terminal.
