Buffalo woman charged in knife attack

A Buffalo woman faces an assault charge in connection with a knife attack on Parkridge Avenue, according to a city police report.

Janiah Peete, 23, of Kensington Avenue, is accused of slicing a woman in the right side of her abdomen with an 8-inch knife shortly before 8 a.m. Monday in a home on the first block of Parkridge, between Kensington and East Amherst Street, according to the report.

The victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center and received two staples to close the wound, police said.

Peete, who was arrested about 90 minutes later, was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the report.
