Free press is essential to maintaining republic

Recently, I saw the movie “The Post,” about the Washington Post and its battle with the Nixon administration to print the Pentagon Pagers. Because the press chose to fight and to risk much, the American people learned of the government’s attempt to hide the truth about the Vietnam War.

This movie should act as a refresher course for us. If we allow any government to erode the credibility of our free press or to inhibit its ability to state the truth, well then, in that case, someday it won’t matter how many guns you own.
