'Hip-hop game-changer' Kendrick Lamar headed to Darien Lake

The rapper who stole the show at the 2016 Grammy Awards has announced his first stop in the Buffalo area since 2013.

Kendrick Lamar will play at 7:30 p.m. June 3 in Darien Lake Amphitheater (9993 Allegheny Road, Darien), with notable openers Schoolboy Q, SZA and a long list of others.

Tickets, which range from $35 lawn tickets to $125 seats, go on sale at noon Jan. 26 online at LiveNation.com, Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Four packs of lawn tickets may be purchased for $100.

Lamar, whom The News' Jeff Miers calls a musical "game-changer," last stopped here as part of the University at Buffalo Springfest concert. Read the pop music critic's review of "Damn," released last April.

Kendrick Lamar is back. The rest of you are excused

Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, Sir, Lance Skiiwalker and Zacari are the other names on Lamar's Championship Tour. Any ticket purchased for a Darien Lake concert includes free admission to Darien Lake Theme Park on the day of the show.
