UB wrestlers fall at Central Michigan

The University at Buffalo won three of the first four matches against Mid-American Conference wrestling power Central Michigan, but lost to the Chippewas, 26-9, on Sunday at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Kyle Akins led off with a shutout win at 125 pounds before Bryan Lantry won a 2-1 decision at 133. After a loss at 141, Nick Palumbo won a decision for the Bulls at 149, but that was it. Central, ranked 17th in the nation, won the next six matches on the program.

UB is 5-7 overall and 2-2 in MAC dual match competition. The Bulls will wrestle at Hofstra on Saturday in their next match.
