Catholic Charities to present award to Lockport Salvation Army leader

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Buffalo will present an award to Maj. Jose Santiago, leader of the Salvation Army in Lockport, at a luncheon Saturday.

Santiago is to receive a Hero of Hope partner award, recognizing him for his work in the Lockport community, during a eastern Niagara County region Catholic Charities kickoff and volunteer training event at 11 a.m. in Davison Road Inn, 383 Davison Road.

Bishop Richard J. Malone will speak at the luncheon. Kathleen Hall, Niagara County district director, is expected to present the award.

The 2018 Catholic Charities appeal, which has a goal of $11 million, lasts through June. In 2017, Niagara County Catholics contributed nearly $1 million to the campaign.
