NCCC names veteran professor as interim VP of academic affairs

Gail L. Tylec, a longtime professor at Niagara County Community College, was named Wednesday as interim vice president of academic affairs.

Tylec, currently the coordinator of the physical education studies teacher education program, replaces Luba Chliwniak, who will retire in March after serving in the vice president's post from 2009 to 2011, and again since 2015.

Chliwniak assumed presidential duties in the wake of James P. Klyczek's forced resignation last April, and served until interim president William Murabito was chosen in September.

Tylec, an NCCC graduate who has worked at the college for 30 years, is a past chairperson of the science, health and mathematics division. She is a past recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
