Homeroom Announcements: Thursday's big games & more

What to watch for Thursday

1. Boys hockey - Sweet Home vs. Williamsville East, 9 p.m.

Sweet Home (9-1) and Williamsville East (3-3-1) squaring off at the Northtown Center tops today's scholastic schedule. The Panthers are the No. 1 Division II team in the state in the latest NYSSWA rankings. The Flames are 14th.

2. Boys basketball - Gowanda at Silver Creek, 7:30 p.m.

Honorable mention small school Silver Creek (11-1, 3-0) hosts Gowanda (8-3, 2-2) in CCAA East I play. The Black Knights are on an 11-game winning streak since losing their opener at Global Concepts. The Panthers won their first two league games but lost the last two against Allegany-Limestone and Randolph.

3. Girls basketball - Williamsville South at West Seneca East, 6:30 p.m.

No. 2 large school Williamsville South (5-2, 4-0) heads to ECIC II foe West Seneca East (8-3, 3-2). The Billies are undefeated against WNY competition, losing their two games against Section V's Pittsford Mendon and Bishop Kearney. The Trojans have lost three of their last four since starting 7-0.

4. Girls hockey - Frontier/Lake Shore/Orchard Park vs. Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew, 4:30 p.m.

FLOP (8-1-3-0-1) takes on LID (4-7-1-1) for the third time this season at Hamburg Town Ice Arena. FLOP won the first two by 4-1 and 7-4 scores. LID shut out West Seneca/Hamburg/Eden yesterday, 4-0.

- Boys basketball: St. Mary's of Lancaster at Nichols, 6:30 p.m.
- Boys basketball: Allegany-Limestone at Randolph, 7:30 p.m.
