Both the University at Buffalo men's and women's tennis teams were picked to repeat at Mid-American Conference tournament champions in a preseason coaches' poll announced Wednesday.
The Bulls, who went undefeated in conference men's play last season, returns most of that team. Although they were picked as MAC tournament champions, they were second to second in the league regular season behind Western Michigan.
Among the returns is first team All-MAC selection Hao Sheng Koah, a native of Malaysia. Also back is junior Ethan Nittolo, the MAC tournament MVP.
The UB women were picked as co-favorites with Miami (Ohio) to win the conference tournament. UB edged Miami in the voting as the favorite to win the regular season. Among the returnees from last season for coach Kristen Maines is first team All-MAC players Tanja Stojanovska, a senior from Macedonia.
The UB men will begin their spring schedule next Wednesday against Wichita State at Cornell University in Ithaca. The women will open against St. Bonaventure on Feb. 2 at the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville.
