Michael Swartz has been selected as interim health care system director for the Veterans Affairs Western New York Healthcare System and will start work here Jan. 29, federal officials announced.
Swartz currently serves as director for the Bath and Canandaigua VA medical centers. He replaces Paul S. Crews, who has served in an interim basis since October and will return to his position as deputy director of the VA San Francisco Healthcare System.
They both replaced Brian Stiller, who took on a new role within the VA at its Veterans Integrated Service Network.
VA Western New York Healthcare System includes Buffalo and Batavia VA medical centers and eight community-based outpatient clinics. It employs more than 2,200 people.
