Homeroom Announcements: Wednesday's big games & more

What to watch for Wednesday

1. Boys basketball - Park at St. Francis, 6:30 p.m.

No. 2 large school Park (9-4, 2-1) visits No. 6 St. Francis (8-5, 2-0) looking to rebound from its first local loss in a 56-55 game at Bishop Timon-St. Jude last Tuesday. The Red Raiders have a pair of league wins over Cardinal O'Hara and Walsh.

2. Girls hockey - Monsignor Martin vs. Williamsville, 4 p.m.

Monsignor Martin (8-1-1-0-1) and Williamsville (8-3-1-1) both play their second second games in as many days at Northtown Center. Monsignor Martin beat Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew, 3-2. Williamsville beat Amherst/Sweet Home/Clarence, 6-3.

3. Boys basketball - Niagara Catholic at Cardinal O'Hara, 6:30 p.m.

No. 7 Cardinal O'Hara (5-5, 2-1) hosts No. 8 Niagara Catholic (9-2, 2-1 UPDATE) after both teams picked up wins yesterday. The Hawks won, 70-62 at Nichols, while the Patriots won easily at Walsh, 71-37.

4. Girls basketball - Allegany-Limestone at Portville, 7:30 p.m.

No. 5 small school Allegany-Limestone (7-1, 2-0) heads to honorable mention Portville (5-4, 1-1) in CCAA East I play. The Gators won their first two league games in blowout fashion, and their lone loss came to No. 1 Franklinville. The Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 55-21 win against Silver Creek Saturday.

5. Boys hockey - Starpoint vs. Williamsville South, 6 p.m.

The lone hockey game on the schedule features Starpoint and Williamsville South at Hockey Outlet. The Spartans are 3-4 in their first season in the Federation with wins over Kenmore West, Kenmore East and Williamsville South. The Billies are 1-8 and have lost seven straight since beating Kenmore West the second game of the season, 4-2.
