New market and deli up for review on Niagara Street

A new retail food store and deli operation may be coming to the West Side.

Jose A. Muniz is seeking city approval to open the Nickel City Mini Mart at 568 Niagara St., including takeout food, as well as alcohol and tobacco sales. According to his application to the Common Council for a special-use permit, he pledges "no grease-laden vapors to be produced."

"The neighborhood/community will benefit with a convenience store and deli that is close by for all their food, cigarettes, and alcohol needs," Muniz wrote, saying there isn't any other option in that area. "There won't be no long lines, no crowds. Customers would be able to come in and out fast."

The Buffalo Planning Board will consider the application on Tuesday, with a recommendation to the Council.
