Women's soccer Prep Talk alumni in NCAA Division I 2017

The breakdown of this list is a sure sign that girls soccer is on the upswing in Western New York.

While four student-athletes wrapped up their NCAA Division I college soccer careers this past fall, 13 more completed their freshman season at the top level of collegiate sports.

Williamsville South alum Carissima Cutrona, who plays at the University at Buffalo, paced all active local products with 18 points on the season, barely nudging out Manhattan junior Emma Saul, the former Orchard Park standout.

Among the deep and talented freshman class, Lancaster's Molly Preston accrued the most points, with six, although Riley Bowers' five points in her first season at Ohio State is also impressive.

Here's a look at how women's NCAA Division I college players hailing from Western New York high schools fared in Fall 2017 competition:
