Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara will open adult literacy drop-in centers in Lockport and Niagara Falls, and the organization is seeking volunteer instructors able to begin training Feb. 7.
The centers will be located in Grace Episcopal Church in Lockport and in the main branch of the Niagara Falls Public Library. Tutors will be asked to work two hours a week. Training will be held at both locations.
The drop-in centers offer adults immediate access to literacy tutoring or instruction in English as a second language. At present, 56 people are waiting to be matched with a tutor.
Those interested in tutoring may call Marco Notaro at 876-8991 or email him at email@example.com. Tutors must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma.
